About Me

Picture
I'm Erin Clyburn (she/her). I joined Howland Literary in April 2022 after three years with The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency. I have worked as a copy editor for magazines including Food & Wine, Cooking Light, and The Progressive Farmer and as a recipe editor and digital producer for brands like Well Done, MyRecipes, HelloGiggles, and Extra Crispy. Previously, I was general manager and director of collection development for Turtleback Books, a distributor of prebound trade books to the school and library market. I received my BA in English Literature from Mississippi State University and my MA in Children’s Literature from Hollins University.

Agenting, I've found, is the perfect marriage of my interests: editing, sales, and above all, reading books—living and breathing books. There's nothing like combing through the slush and coming across a query with a voice you know in your gut is something special. It never feels like work.

I'm based in Birmingham, Alabama. When not working, I can typically be found outdoors. I love hiking, cooking, traveling, painting, spending time with my partner and family, and trying to keep my four rabbits, Felix, Agnes, Valentino, and Beatrice, from chewing up every baseboard in the house.
